The Week in Geek: Zack Snyder’s job security, Daredevil’s return & Aaron Paul calls Saul

This time in the Week in Geek, we look at Batman v. Superman, the trailer for Daredevil Season 2, Aaron Paul in Better Call Saul and more!

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Hype

With Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice now only a month away, unsurprisingly lots of little reports and tidbits have been appearing on the net.

Recently a report from Hitfix claimed that Warner Bros. were considering firing Batman v. Superman director/DC Films-overseer Zack Snyder, allegedly due to disappointing feedback at preview screenings of Batman v. Superman.

In an (almost) direct rebuttal, this week Warner announced that Justice League begins shooting on April 11th in London, with Snyder tweeting this photo.

The photo has stoked fan speculation. Is that black costume Nightwing’s? Does the helmet on the table belong to Ares? OH MY GHERD, is that Flash’s costume in the background?!

Other interesting reports about Batman v. Superman have surfaced this week, including sources reporting that Ben Affleck was regularly seen rewriting the screenplay in costume, confirmation that tickets go on sale on Monday and even that eminently-playable PS4 game Rocket League will get batmobile DLC next week!

The film, due March 25th, will ask the age old question: who wins in a fight, Batman or Superman? The answer, of course, is Warner Bros., who are poised to start raking in that dollar.

Daredevil Season 2 Trailer

The “second part” of the trailer (really, is that a thing now?) for Netflix’s second season of Daredevil dropped this week and it’s brutal. And sexy. But mostly brutal.

The trailer gives us our first proper look at Elektra, played by Élodie Yung. In the comics, Elektra is a badass love interest of Matt Murdock’s. Enough sparks between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner on the set of the much maligned 2003 film when they played these roles that they later married.

(Before – you know – getting divorced.)

The series, which arrives on Netflix on March 18th, has received very positive early reviews. Particular praise has gone to Yung’s portrayal of Elektra and The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal for his unhinged take on the Punisher.

Aaron Paul to appear on Better Call Saul?

Better Call Saul season two is underway and Aaron Paul has hinted that he may be returning to TV as Jesse Pinkman.

During a Reddit AMA Paul was asked if he would be “open to making an appearance” on the Breaking Bad spinoff, to which he responded:

“Yeah of course! I’m such a huge fan of Better Call Saul, and of course everyone behind the show. So, who knows? […] Maybe I already shot it? […] It might be airing this season? I don’t know. Well, actually, I do know, but you’ll have to watch and see. But yeah, I’d absolutely be opened to it and we have discussed the possibility.”

Last year, series co-creator Vince Gilligan said he was open to Paul’s Jesse Pinkman and Bryan Cranston’s Walter White making appearances in Better Call Saul after its first season. The series has already featured cameos from Breaking Bad characters, including a major villain in season one…

Bond 25 in pre-production – without Daniel Craig?

Daniel Craig (James Bond). Film Premiere "Spectre" 007 - on the Red Carpet in Berlin. by Glyn Lowe

If you watched our first ever Culture Cast, you’ll know that we at the Right Dishonourable predict Idris Elba as the next James Bond. Now, we might have confirmation.

Speaking to Shortlist, Mark Strong (a close friend of Craig’s) said: “I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time. […] He has been [wonderful] and he’s loved it. But I think he feels like he’s mined it. He’s done what he wants with it.”

Franchise producer Gregg Wilson recently told MI6 (not the MI6): “We have just begun to talk about ideas for the next movie. Each script process begins when we ask ourselves the question: ‘What is the world afraid right now?’”

Could those ideas include our first black Bond? Time will tell.

Poison Ivy I painted on last time, and I am painting Again Tomorrow! I really like Pamela IRL. Ivy fights for the world itself, she is like Captain Planet… but a bit of a sociopath. 😀 Poison Ivy=planeteer haha.  I actually really prefer the New 52 Origin to the old one, its a little more twisted and human and convoluted. Shows she is indeed a neutral character, and ironically very human.  You'll find the animation appropriate as it refers to her M.O. *blows you a kiss* and personally my M.O., long time lurkers know what I am talking about 😀 This is the exact same wig I used for Starfire too~ a matilda in pumpkin from @ardawigs #poisonivy #bodypaint @ithurman @neilhimself @jimleeart @clarefoley123 @claregrant @milano_alyssa @tarastrong514 @jimmypalmiotti #redhair #yyc #calgary #bodyart @twitch @kryolanofficial @mehronmakeup @mehroncanada @sephora @bennyemakeup #mehronmakeup #kryolanofficial #mehron @wolfefaceartfx @ardacanada #makeupartistsworldwide #makeup #mua #makeupartist #comic #comicbooks #cosplay #cospaint #twitchcreative #twitch #dc #fanart @amazingmakeupart #beauty @comicbookresources  @geekfantasymagazine @comicsandcoffee @comicbookresources @geekculture @badasscosplay @epiccomicpics #wig @suicidesquadmovie #suicidesquad #ArkhamKnight #GothamCitySirens #dccomics #batman #PamelaIsley #green

My Starfire I painted on last night. The Alien of Joy. She is my Venus, full of love and beauty . Starfire has always been a cosplay goal, so I am truly blessed and grateful for the ability to paint. I came up with a game the twitch stream, I was doing Starfire' s Teen Titan voice. For quotes the chat gave me. I am told my imitation is spot on 😀 I am planning of doing more versions of her in the future. I love so many of her iterations. This is the most amazing hair too. the wig is a matilda in pumpkin from @ardawigs with a long weft clipped in! #starfire #bodypaint #SandroBotticelli #GeorgePerez #MarvWolfman #HyndenWalch #timothygreenII @scottylobdell @jimmypalmiotti @amandaconnerart @thenealadams @dccomics @dcentertainment @dccomicsunited @cbr @hyndenwalch1 #redhair #yyc #calgary #bodyart @twitch @kryolanofficial @mehronmakeup @mehroncanada @sephora @bennyemakeup #mehronmakeup #kryolanofficial #mehron @wolfefaceartfx @ardacanada #makeupartistsworldwide #makeup #mua #makeupartist #comic #comicbooks #cosplay #cospaint #twitchcreative #twitch #dc #fanart #marveluniverse @amazingmakeupart #beauty @geekfantasymagazine @comicsandcoffee @comicbookresources @geekculture @badasscosplay @epiccomicpics #wig
